“There is beauty everywhere, but not everyone can see it,” said Confucius.
True, yet when you spend some time looking at how the social media world functions, you’ll find a lot of beauty: perfectly balanced posts with never-before-seen fonts, highly coordinated Instagram feeds, Reels with ideal music and editing patterns.
Maybe too often you try to create impactful graphics, but without success you alternate various colors and experiment with every Canva model while continuing to ask yourself how others manage to have such precise and orderly channels. Although the use of your creativity is positive, sometimes a hodge podge conglomeration will not assist in your success.
Creating an impactful aesthetic or “look” will help grow your audience and build a recognizable identity.
What we should do, even before starting to publish, is to define our Social Identity, i.e. the format and ways in which to post that properly represent you.
The Advantages of an Effective Social Brand Identity
It saves you time, having already defined guidelines and aesthetic
It allows you to be professional and reliable, especially in the eyes of those who know you less
Create easy recognition: a glance will be enough, and anyone will associate that post with your brand
Of course, this type of approach requires initial effort, but you will see that it will also lead to a gradual maximization of results.
Phases for Structuring Your Social Image 1. Visualize
Stand in front of a blank sheet of paper and start shaping your social identity as an artist, educator, director, etc.; since it is necessary to communicate uniformly across all channels begin visualizing your aesthetic.
To do this, start by setting up a mood board, then move on to defining a color palette and fonts (two or three at most). If you don’t know where to start, I’ll explain how to do it step by step in this course. For example, if your defining words are kindness and transparency, use pastel and soft colors instead of black or bright colors. In this way you create a well-defined style. Just keep in mind, it is important to keep your tone of voice consistent!
2. Create and Coordinate
Set up custom templates for the graphics of your posts. Make them editable each time, for example on Illustrator or Canva… there is no point in starting from scratch every time. Use them to create classic posts, carousels, ad campaigns, Reels or video covers. Try to create images that are unique and identifiable, to start strengthening your recognition right away.
Dress all your channels in a coherent way: make sure that profile images, covers and static sections are well coordinated to create a graphic and visual common thread. eThe same goes for the dynamic contents that you gradually publish.
Attention! Always check that the dimensions of the templates are updated to the latest implementations of social channels, in order not to find graphics displayed poorly.
3. Integrate
Boards and feeds often integrate graphic posts and photographic content. When it comes to photography, it becomes potentially very easy to “ruin” the aesthetics of your coordinated image, don’t you think? This is why I suggest you also set filters or presets that recall your palette: use them for all the shots you publish!
And if you have any doubts, you can always use apps like Preview or UNUM, which allow you to structure a “simulation” of your Instagram feed by testing each new entry in an overview.
4. Experiment
There are many types of creative formats that you can try to introduce: discover them and experiment with coordinating your feeds. The results will really amaze you!
It is obvious that social media is constantly evolving. New formats will be introduced, other trends will depopulate, so try not to be caught off guard by this. Follow the accounts who inspire you and keep you in tune with current trends so that you may grow your platform!
